Frequently Asked Questions
The UAE Economic Substance Regulations require certain UAE entities that carry out "Relevant Activities" to maintain and demonstrate an adequate "economic presence" in the UAE relative to the activities they undertake.
There are nine "Relevant Activities" defined under the regulations:
Banking Business
Insurance Business
Investment Fund Management Business
Lease-Finance Business
Headquarters Business
Shipping Business
Holding Company Business
Intellectual Property Business
Distribution and Service Centre Business
ESR Notification: Must be submitted within six months from the end of the entity's financial year.
ESR Report: Must be submitted within twelve months from the end of the entity's financial year (only for those who earned income from a Relevant Activity).
